I’ve been brought out of my reading lull when my friends started to do an unofficial book club earlier this month. Unofficial, since it’s just a group of friends with a theme in mind. I think this would really help as friends tend to give you an indirect pressure to pick up a book and just read! Especially during this period where am I just going through the motions of working, housework and World of Warcraft— another recent obsession entirely.
This month’s theme is travel, be it fiction or non-fiction. Of course I went into the fiction category, since I’m not really keen on reading non-fiction books. I tried, I just never really got into it. I wanted to try a non-fiction one this time, but I realized the only thing that will actually make me read something it should be something I think I’d like.
So I searched for fiction travel books and found “Don Quixote”, “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”… you know, the classics. I thought I’d finally pick up H.G. Wells’ “The Time Machine”, when I found it was free via Amazon Kindle and downloaded it too. Then I saw The Time Cavern by Todd A. Fonseca, read the premise and reviews and thought I’d give it a try.
So here’s hoping I get to succeed with this endeavor and just read more! Because, reading more books is always good. Will let you know once I finish and after we discuss it ๐
Hi Camille,
Thanks so much for considering The Time Cavern. I hope you enjoy it! The intended audience is 9-12 year olds (when I started, I was writing it for my ten-year-old who had read everything in the house and the library. A couple years later a publisher picked it up!). Book 2 is about to be released. I look forward to your comments!
Todd
A book intended for young adults never stopped me to read one. Will definitely post an entry once I finish the book!
Really excited to see what you have to share ๐
